Facebook Status for 8/27/2010

"Veronica Vilski was mortified while paying for clothes when Coen lunged forward in his umbrella stroller, the buckles unsnapped, he fell on the floor, then took off running for the toys section. It's funny now; it wasn't then."

Chatter Box Daredevil

Our sweet little Coen now has a vocabulary. I am most pleased with his “thank you” because he generally uses it at the correct time and is very polite. Take for example, when I come into the living room from washing some dishes and he’s standing on the arm of our chair, arms in the air and giggling wildly to himself. I so nicely helped him down, all the while a huge grin on his face, so he told me “thank you” and took off running. Stinker.

Here are the words he knows and sometimes does on command:

no, thank you, bless you (used at the right time once), mama, dada, papi, buh-pa (grandpa), agua, water, luz, light, that, uh oh, baby, Jessica, tita, and probably some more that I’m forgetting.

He can repeat words when you say them, but the above ones he’s used on his one at least a couple times.

He also has learned how to nod and shake his head. The other day  he was standing on a wooden chest in the living room. He was waggling a remote control and going on and on in a nice, verbose speech with a few “no”s added in and some quite violent shaking of the head. I smiled at him and he scowled at me and shook his head and said “no” then promptly got down from the chest. It’s like he knows I disapprove of him being up there….hmmmm….

My camera is broken right now and my “free” price quote went to $123.00 quite rapidly. I feel lost without it and I want to take some videos of his funny antics! Once I get it back, there will be vidoes and photos galore.

Love to all! If we’ve recently seen you, it was wonderful. If we’ll see you soon, we can’t wait! And if neither applies, come visit! :)

More Family – Weeks One and Three

IMG_4860 Melanie and Great (Great) Grandma Judy enjoying the birthday festivities for Jessica & Grandma. Everyone came over the first day we arrived because it was their birthday. Even Uncle Matt came from Ohio!

Zeee Cruizzze – Week Two

And now, the pictures you’ve all been waiting for…up until my camera battery died…. THE CRUISE TO ALASKA!

The cruise was just beautiful and, even better, we got to spend a full week with family. It was such a generous gift from Grandpa and Grandma Ide for their 50th wedding anniversary.

Here’s a general overview of what we did. There was so much to do and see that I can’t write it all. You can check out my dad’s pictures if you’d like, he took some nice ones. (www.vernersphotography.com, Galleries, Family, Cruise or something like that)

Coen’s favorite server, Daniele. She loved to play with him and let him beat rhythms on her tray.

We ended up dominating the Card Room most of the time. When we weren’t there we were on the deck, exploring the cities, in the hot tub, in the pool, eating, eating, eating, wine tasting, talking, walking, eating, eating, and enjoying everything!IMG_5191 IMG_5181

Here we are on a formal night.

IMG_4957 Our boat docked in Juneau, Alaska. The fog cleared shortly after we got off the boat.

We had to finish the ice cream before we were allowed in Alaska. Do you see the nice Kelty baby backpack Coen got for my birthday?IMG_4958 IMG_4961 Family in Skagway, Alaska.IMG_4966 IMG_5024 For the first couple of weeks Coen felt the need to pinch Jessica’s face. Here he is getting in trouble for it… IMG_5069

In Washington! Week One

IMG_4958Coen enjoyed his time with “Tita” Jessi. Jessica babysat him an entire day so that Justin and I could go river kayaking in Wenatchee with Joey Murphy. It was a little strange to be kid-free for most of the day, but it was fun! We didn’t fall off of our kayaks until the very last rapids, where I took a nice smash. Apparently, I went over the first big rapid, looked very proud and pleased with myself, then realized that I was getting sucked backwards underneath it and had a look of extreme horror.

IMG_4979Coen loved playing at the beach and just wanted to smoosh the sand in his hands most of the time.

IMG_5001Walter, Aaron, and Joey came to hang out one night. We went out in downtown Tacoma after some mahi mahi.  IMG_5085

Uncle Dan and Coen! Coen LOVED to play with Daniel and would choose him over other family members. Dan even let him play with the buttons on the fan.
